Closed Cell Spray Foam

As the name suggests, closed cell foam is made up of cells that are completely closed. The cells are pressed together, which makes it far more rigid and stable than open cell spray foam. It has a higher R-value than open cell spray foam and has a density of approximately 1.75 pounds per cubic foot or more. It acts as its own vapour barrier and can block air movement completely, draft and air. It is so dense that it can strengthen a structure based on how it adheres to framing structures.

Closed cell spray foam is the most versatile type of insulation. It is considered most useful in cold climates where heating is required. It is effective for both interior and exterior applications and is recommended for most commercial and industrial applications. The rigid structure of closed cell spray foam and its durability make it ideal for exposed walls because it will not experience damage if it is bumped by machinery or tools. Call us today at (570) 308-2031.

Closed cell spray foam can be used for many things, including (but not limited to):

·      Remodeling residential or commercial properties

·      New construction (residential or commercial)

·      Exterior applications

·      Interior applications

In addition to closed cell spray foam being more energy-efficient and its ability to insulate and seal air, there are a number of additional advantages including:

·      Blocks air movement

·      Acts as a vapor barrier

·      Makes water and moisture less likely to get inside the home

·      The foam itself is unharmed by water damage

·      Provides insulation

·      Provides air sealing

·      Strengthen buildings during storms or high winds

·      Reduces mold potential

·      Strengthens walls

·      Can be applied at a very low temperature

Although there are a number of advantages to using closed cell foam, there are also a number of disadvantages that include:

·      Sound dampening ability is low

·      Absorbency is low

·      Cannot accommodate the movement of a building
